What is TRP file?

The file with the extension TRP is the Video Files file type. Video Files consists of 546 similar files. HD Video Transport Stream is most often found on 3 operating systems. These systems consist of Linux, Mac OS, Windows, although it may occasionally be found on another system, it will be non-functional. It is recommended to use VLC media player to handle this file. This is a program created by VideoLAN Project Team. Alternatively, you can use 9 other programs. The PowerDVD, DVR-Studio, K-Lite Codec Pack, Nero Multimedia Suite programs will also handle the file when the VLC media player program does not fulfill its role.

How to open TRP file?

An often recurring problem with HD Video Transport Stream is that TRP is not associated with the correct program file. Thus, when you open TRP, the program selection wizard or some other program starts. This can be quickly resolved by following the instructions below.

The first thing you should do is just "doubleclick" on the TRP file icon you want to open. If the operating system has an appropriate application to support it and there is also an association between the file and the program, the file should be opened.

Step 1. Install VLC media player

In this case, you should first verify that the VLC media player application is installed on the computer. This can be achieved by typing VLC media player into the operating system search engine. If we do not have this program, it is worth installing it, as it will help you automatically associate the file TRP with VLC media player. Below you will find a list of applications that support TRP files.

Step 2. Create association of VLC media player with TRP files

If the application is or has been freshly installed, but the TRP file still does not use the VLC media player program, it means no association. The association can be created using the drop-down list available by right-clicking on the file and selecting Properties. The window will show, among other things, the type of the file and the information by which the program is used to launch the file. Using the "Change" button we can select the desired program. The program should be visible in the window, otherwise it should be selected manually using the "Browse" button and the program installation directory should be indicated. The "always use the selected program ..." field will set the VLC media player application as the default for handling the TRP file.

Step 3. Update VLC media player to the latest version

If, however, after binding VLC media player with HD Video Transport Stream there were still problems, you should update the program to the latest version. Some applications allow you to update from the program level, and for others you need to download the installer from the VideoLAN Project Team page and install.

Step 4. Check for the following problems with the TRP file

If the above steps do not help, you can assume that the file itself is not correct. File problems can be divided into the following:

Very often, the file may be size 0 or incomplete. This suggests truncating the TRP file contents when downloading or copying. The file should be downloaded again, making sure that the process has finished correctly.
The most common cause here is computer viruses. A virus scan using an up-to-date antivirus program should fix the problem. Alternatively, you can use the scanners available online. For the best results, we will scan the entire operating system, not just our TRP file. Sometimes virus-infected TRP files cannot be recovered, so make a backup in advance.
This can happen especially when the program is dynamically developed and the structure of the TRP files changes over time. On their websites, developers usually offer free solutions to such problems, e.g. in the form of a conversion program or an older version of the program.
The file may be corrupted in a number of ways. Repairing is very dependent on the file type. Some programs offer the option of recovering data from damaged TRP files. The easiest way is to restore the file from a backup, if there is one, or contact N/A
The program can also signal the fact of encryption. The encrypted TRP files can be used by the device on which they were encrypted, on any other device it is required to have the appropriate cryptographic key and decrypt the file before its recovery.
The operating system protects files in some locations (e.g. the root of the system partition) against unauthorized access. These directories are write-protected to them and it's very hard to fix this problem. Copying the TRP file to another location will fix the problem.
This problem usually affects more complex files. Some file types can only be opened in one program at a time. Just close unnecessary programs. If the error persists after closing other programs, wait for a while. Antivirus programs or a backup being made may lock the file for a while without the user's knowledge. If the problem persists, restart the machine.
