What is RPI file?

The file with the extension RPI is the Plugin Files file type. Additionally, the Plugin Files category contains 179 of other files. Render Plug-in is supported by 3 operating systems. These systems consist of Linux, Mac OS, Windows, although it may occasionally be found on another system, it will be non-functional. The main program that supports this format is Kega Fusion. This was created by Steve Snake. There are also 2 alternative programs to handle the RPI file.

How to open RPI file?

The main problem with Render Plug-in is that the RPI file is incorrectly associated with programs. Thus, when you open RPI, the program selection wizard or some other program starts. How to solve such a problem?

The first thing you should do is just "doubleclick" on the RPI file icon you want to open. If the operating system has an appropriate application to support it and there is also an association between the file and the program, the file should be opened.

Step 1. Install Kega Fusion

An often overlooked issue is to make sure that Kega Fusion is installed on the computer. To do this, enter the name Kega Fusion into the system search engine. In the absence of an appropriate program, its installation in the vast majority of cases will fix the problem. Below is a list of programs that support the file RPI.

Remember to download programs supporting RPI files only from verified and safe sources. We suggest using the websites of software developers.

Step 2. Create association of Kega Fusion with RPI files

If, despite the installed application, the RPI file does not start in the Kega Fusion application, you must create a file association. It is most convenient to call the context menu with the right mouse button and select Properties. The window will show, among other things, the type of the file and the information by which the program is used to launch the file. Using the "Change" button we can select the desired program. The program should be visible in the window, otherwise it should be selected manually using the "Browse" button and the program installation directory should be indicated. Checking the "Always use the selected program ..." box will permanently associate the RPI file with the Kega Fusion program.

Step 3. Update Kega Fusion to the latest version

If, despite the association of the Kega Fusion program with the Render Plug-in file, the file still does not open, check the program version and possibly update it to the newest version. This can be done using the application (if it provides such options) or from the Steve Snake website and install the latest version.

Step 4. Check for the following problems with the RPI file

If the above steps do not help, you can assume that the file itself is not correct. This could be due to the file itself, the cleanest issues are:

The RPI file may be unusually small compared to the original file. Usually this applies to RPI files downloaded from the Internet in case the download did not finish properly. Downloading the file again should fix the problem.
The computer may have fallen victim to a computer virus or hacker. Perform a virus scan using available and up-to-date anti-virus software. Alternatively, you can use the scanners available online. The scan should cover the entire computer, not only the RPI file that we want to open. As a result of the scan, sometimes it is not possible to recover RPI files, which are deleted if there is a backup of this file, then after restoring it, it must also be scanned.
Older version of RPI file may not always be supported by the latest software version. These problems are known and are often very easy to fix using the software developers's website.
There can be many reasons for this. The repair method must be adapted to the type of file and damage. Some programs offer the ability to automatically repair RPI file corruption. You can restore the file from a backup or use N/A help.
The program indicates that the file is encrypted or corrupted. The encrypted RPI files cannot be played on other computers than the one on which they were encrypted, they must be decrypted before using on another device.
Some operating systems do not allow file operations in certain locations, eg in system directories or directly on the system drive. These directories are write-protected to them and it's very hard to fix this problem. It is best to move RPI to a different directory.
This can happen on a file that does not support multiple access. You may find that another program you are using is preventing you from working with the file. Running programs (including those in the background) should be verified. Sometimes it is necessary to wait a while before referencing the RPI file again. Antivirus programs or a backup being made may lock the file for a while without the user's knowledge. If this does not work either, restart the device.
