What is RFL file?

The RFL file has been categorized as Misc Files. The author of this format is ANSYS Inc.. Additionally, the Misc Files category contains 6033 of other files. ANSYS Format is most often found on 1 operating systems. Although it can be found with greater or lesser success on any operating system, it will only be useful on Windows. It is recommended to use ANSYS DesignModeler to handle this file. This is a program created by ANSYS Inc..

How to open RFL file?

The most common problem when using ANSYS Format is that a specific RFL is not associated with the program. Thus, when you open RFL, the program selection wizard or some other program starts. This problem can be easily remedied.

The first thing you should do is just "doubleclick" on the RFL file icon you want to open. If the operating system has an appropriate application to support it and there is also an association between the file and the program, the file should be opened.

Step 1. Install ANSYS DesignModeler

The first step is to check if the computer has the ANSYS DesignModeler program installed. To do this, enter the name ANSYS DesignModeler into the system search engine. If we do not have this program, it is worth installing it, as it will help you automatically associate the file RFL with ANSYS DesignModeler. Later in this article you will find a list of programs that can open RFL files.

Remember to download programs supporting RFL files only from verified and safe sources. We suggest using the websites of software developers.

Step 2. Create association of ANSYS DesignModeler with RFL files

If, despite the installed application, the RFL file does not start in the ANSYS DesignModeler application, you must create a file association. The association can be created using the drop-down list available by right-clicking on the file and selecting Properties. Information about the file and the program that the file is associated with are available here. Using the "Change" button we can select the desired program. It may happen that in the next window there will be no appropriate program - however, this can be corrected with the "Browse" option where you should manually indicate the program location. The "always use the selected program ..." field will set the ANSYS DesignModeler application as the default for handling the RFL file.

Step 3. Update ANSYS DesignModeler to the latest version

If, however, after binding ANSYS DesignModeler with ANSYS Format there were still problems, you should update the program to the latest version. Some applications allow you to update from the program level, and for others you need to download the installer from the ANSYS Inc. page and install.

Step 4. Check for the following problems with the RFL file

Of course, it may happen that despite the above steps, the file still does not work. This could be due to the file itself, the cleanest issues are:

The RFL file may be unusually small compared to the original file. This is most often caused by a problem while downloading the RFL file. Downloading the file again should fix the problem.
The operating system may be infected with a computer virus. A quick virus scan using an up-to-date antivirus program should clear up any doubts. Alternatively, you can use the scanners available online. The scan should cover the entire computer, not only the RFL file that we want to open. Sometimes virus-infected RFL files cannot be recovered, so make a backup in advance.
This can happen especially when the program is dynamically developed and the structure of the RFL files changes over time. These problems are known and are often very easy to fix using the software developers's website.
There can be many reasons for the failure. The repair method must be adapted to the type of file and damage. Sometimes the program itself has options to repair the most popular RFL file corruption. The easiest way is to restore the file from a backup, if there is one, or contact ANSYS Inc.
The program can also signal the fact of encryption. The encrypted file RFL except for the special designation, works normally, but only on the device where it was encrypted, before transferring it to another machine, decryption is required.
Some operating systems do not allow file operations in certain locations, eg in system directories or directly on the system drive. These directories are write-protected to them and it's very hard to fix this problem. If possible, you can try to move the RFL file to another location.
This problem usually affects more complex files. In this case, the RFL file is blocked by the first application to open it. Running programs (including those in the background) should be verified. If the error persists after closing other programs, wait for a while. Antivirus programs or a backup being made may lock the file for a while without the user's knowledge. If this does not work either, restart the device.
