What is RAI file?

The file with the extension RAI is the Misc Files file type. The author of this format is Astronomical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. In addition to this file, the Misc Files category includes 6033 related files. SPEFO appears on 1 operating systems as a functional file. These systems consist of Windows, although it may occasionally be found on another system, it will be non-functional. It is recommended to use SPEFO to handle this file. This is a program created by Astronomical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

How to open RAI file?

The main problem with SPEFO is that the RAI file is incorrectly associated with programs. Thus, when you open RAI, the program selection wizard or some other program starts. This problem can be easily remedied.

The first thing you should do is just "doubleclick" on the RAI file icon you want to open. If the operating system has an appropriate application to support it and there is also an association between the file and the program, the file should be opened.

Step 1. Install SPEFO

The first step is to check if the computer has the SPEFO program installed. The easiest method is to use the system search engine by entering the program name SPEFO in it. In the absence of an appropriate program, its installation in the vast majority of cases will fix the problem. Below you will find a list of applications that support RAI files.

Remember to download programs supporting RAI files only from verified and safe sources. We suggest using the websites of software developers.

Step 2. Create association of SPEFO with RAI files

If, despite the installed application, the RAI file does not start in the SPEFO application, you must create a file association. The association can be created using the drop-down list available by right-clicking on the file and selecting Properties. The window will show, among other things, the type of the file and the information by which the program is used to launch the file. Using the "Change" button we can select the desired program. The program should be visible in the window, otherwise it should be selected manually using the "Browse" button and the program installation directory should be indicated. Checking the "Always use the selected program ..." box will permanently associate the RAI file with the SPEFO program.

Step 3. Update SPEFO to the latest version

If, however, after binding SPEFO with SPEFO there were still problems, you should update the program to the latest version. In this case, use the Astronomical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic website or update the program from the application.

Step 4. Check for the following problems with the RAI file

Of course, it may happen that despite the above steps, the file still does not work. File problems can be divided into the following:

The RAI file may be unusually small compared to the original file. This is most often caused by a problem while downloading the RAI file. Downloading the file again should fix the problem.
The computer may have fallen victim to a computer virus or hacker. Perform a virus scan using available and up-to-date anti-virus software. Alternatively, you can use the scanners available online. However, it is important to scan the entire system, not only the file RAI or the program directory. However, remember that not every infected RAI file can be recovered, so it is important to take care of regular backups.
This can happen especially when the program is dynamically developed and the structure of the RAI files changes over time. These problems are known and are often very easy to fix using the software developers's website.
There can be many reasons for the failure. Repairing is very dependent on the file type. Some programs offer the ability to automatically repair RAI file corruption. The easiest way to restore the file is from a backup or by contacting Astronomical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic, but this one can be expensive. Not all damage can be reversed.
The program can also signal the fact of encryption. The encrypted RAI files cannot be played on other computers than the one on which they were encrypted, they must be decrypted before using on another device.
The operating system protects files in some locations (e.g. the root of the system partition) against unauthorized access. These directories are write-protected to them and it's very hard to fix this problem. It is best to move RAI to a different directory.
This problem usually affects more complex files. Some file types can only be opened in one program at a time. Running programs (including those in the background) should be verified. Sometimes you have to wait for the session to the file RAI to close. However, some background programs may block the RAI file while scanning. If this does not work either, restart the device.
