The PDS file is supported on 1 operating systems. Depending on your operating system, you may need different software to handle the PDS files. Below is a summary of the number of programs that support and open the PDS file on each system platform.
What is PDS file?
The .PDS file is a CyberLink PowerDirector project file. It is video editing software up to Blu-Ray standard. It allows you to add menus or additional effects to the footage. The tool is intended for home editing. You can combine multiple recordings and add interesting transition effects between them. In addition, there is a template system that allows you to quickly edit the footage, depending on your needs. The design file itself is text based on XML syntax.
How to open PDS file?
An often recurring problem with PowerDirector Script Format is that PDS is not associated with the correct program file. Thus, when you open PDS, the program selection wizard or some other program starts. How to solve such a problem?
The first thing you should do is just "doubleclick" on the PDS file icon you want to open. If the operating system has an appropriate application to support it and there is also an association between the file and the program, the file should be opened.
Step 1. Install PowerDirector
An often overlooked issue is to make sure that PowerDirector is installed on the computer. This can be achieved by typing PowerDirector into the operating system search engine. If we do not have this program, it is worth installing it, as it will help you automatically associate the file PDS with PowerDirector. Below you will find a list of applications that support PDS files.
Programs to open PDS file
Remember to download programs supporting PDS files only from verified and safe sources. We suggest using the websites of software developers.
Step 2. Create association of PowerDirector with PDS files
If the application is or has been freshly installed, but the PDS file still does not use the PowerDirector program, it means no association. This option is available from the level of Properties of a specific file available in the context menu. The window will show, among other things, the type of the file and the information by which the program is used to launch the file. Using the "Change" button we can set the program to handle this type. If there is no software on the list, simply select "Browse" and manually select the directory where the application is installed. However, it is important to check the "Always use the selected program ..." box, this will allow you to permanently associate the PDS file with the PowerDirector application.
Step 3. Update PowerDirector to the latest version
If, however, after binding PowerDirector with PowerDirector Script Format there were still problems, you should update the program to the latest version. In this case, use the CyberLink Corp. website or update the program from the application.
Step 4. Check for the following problems with the PDS file
If the above steps do not help, you can assume that the file itself is not correct. The most common file problems are:
The PDS file may be unusually small compared to the original file. This suggests truncating the PDS file contents when downloading or copying. The only repair option is to download the file again.
The operating system may be infected with a computer virus. A virus scan using an up-to-date antivirus program should fix the problem. Alternatively, you can use the scanners available online. The scan should cover the entire computer, not only the PDS file that we want to open. However, remember that not every infected PDS file can be recovered, so it is important to take care of regular backups.
This can happen especially when the program is dynamically developed and the structure of the PDS files changes over time. On their websites, developers usually offer free solutions to such problems, e.g. in the form of a conversion program or an older version of the program.
There can be many reasons for the failure. Repairing is very dependent on the file type. Sometimes the program itself has options to repair the most popular PDS file corruption. The easiest way to restore the file is from a backup or by contacting CyberLink, but this one can be expensive. Not all damage can be reversed.
When reading, a message appears that the file was encrypted or corrupted. The encrypted file PDS except for the special designation, works normally, but only on the device where it was encrypted, before transferring it to another machine, decryption is required.
Some of the system directories are excluded from modification. While there is usually no problem reading such a file, it may not be possible to save it. If possible, you can try to move the PDS file to another location.
This can happen on a file that does not support multiple access. Some file types can only be opened in one program at a time. Just close unnecessary programs. Sometimes it is necessary to wait a while before referencing the PDS file again. Antivirus programs or a backup being made may lock the file for a while without the user's knowledge. If the problem persists, restart the machine.
