The MP file is supported on 2 operating systems. Depending on your operating system, you may need different software to handle the MP files. Below is a summary of the number of programs that support and open the MP file on each system platform.
What is MP file?
The .MP file is an Autodesk Maya design file. This file type is used in the PLE (educational) version. The full commercial version uses files in the .ME format. Both files are incompatible with each other. In addition, the educational version puts a watermark on the preview and printouts. Maya is 3D animation and simulation software. With this program you can model graphics and render 3D objects. Autodesk software is not the cheapest solution.
How to open MP file?
The main problem with Maya PLE Project Format is that the MP file is incorrectly associated with programs. This causes the file MP to open by system applications not designed for this purpose, or to display a message that there is no associated program. How to solve such a problem?
The first thing you should do is just "doubleclick" on the MP file icon you want to open. If the operating system has an appropriate application to support it and there is also an association between the file and the program, the file should be opened.
Step 1. Install Maya
The first step is to check if the computer has the Maya program installed. The easiest method is to use the system search engine by entering the program name Maya in it. In the absence of an appropriate program, its installation in the vast majority of cases will fix the problem. Below is a list of programs that support the file MP.
Programs to open MP file
Remember to download programs supporting MP files only from verified and safe sources. We suggest using the websites of software developers.
Step 2. Create association of Maya with MP files
If, despite the installed application, the MP file does not start in the Maya application, you must create a file association. It is most convenient to call the context menu with the right mouse button and select Properties. The window will show, among other things, the type of the file and the information by which the program is used to launch the file. Using the "Change" button we can select the desired program. If there is no software on the list, simply select "Browse" and manually select the directory where the application is installed. The "always use the selected program ..." field will set the Maya application as the default for handling the MP file.
Step 3. Update Maya to the latest version
The fault may also lie with the Maya program, it is possible that Maya PLE Project Format requires a newer version of the program.
Step 4. Check for the following problems with the MP file
If the above steps do not help, you can assume that the file itself is not correct. The most common file problems are:
The MP file may be unusually small compared to the original file. Usually this applies to MP files downloaded from the Internet in case the download did not finish properly. The only repair option is to download the file again.
The operating system may be infected with a computer virus. A virus scan using an up-to-date antivirus program should fix the problem. Alternatively, you can use the scanners available online. The scan should cover the entire computer, not only the MP file that we want to open. Sometimes virus-infected MP files cannot be recovered, so make a backup in advance.
A typical compatibility error - the program does not support the older version of the MP file. These problems are known and are often very easy to fix using the software developers's website.
There can be many reasons for the failure. Depending on the type of file, it is necessary to repair it accordingly. Some programs offer the ability to automatically repair MP file corruption.
When reading, a message appears that the file was encrypted or corrupted. The encrypted MP files cannot be played on other computers than the one on which they were encrypted, they must be decrypted before using on another device.
Some of the system directories are excluded from modification. The problem is only writing to the file, not reading it. If possible, you can try to move the MP file to another location.
This can happen on a file that does not support multiple access. You may find that another program you are using is preventing you from working with the file. Just close unnecessary programs. If the error persists after closing other programs, wait for a while. Some anti-virus or backup software may occupy the MP file for a certain period of time. If this does not work either, restart the device.
