The HPO file is supported on 1 operating systems. Depending on your operating system, you may need different software to handle the HPO files. Below is a summary of the number of programs that support and open the HPO file on each system platform.
What is HPO file?
The file in the HPO format belongs to the Document Files category. It was designed by Paul F. Kunz. Document Files consists of 574 similar files. HippoDraw Canvas Document is supported by 1 operating systems. The file will work on Linux systems, unfortunately not on others. It is recommended to use HippoDraw to handle this file. This is a program created by Paul F. Kunz.
How to open HPO file?
The most common problem when using HippoDraw Canvas Document is that a specific HPO is not associated with the program. This causes the file HPO to open by system applications not designed for this purpose, or to display a message that there is no associated program. This can be quickly resolved by following the instructions below.
The first thing you should do is just "doubleclick" on the HPO file icon you want to open. If the operating system has an appropriate application to support it and there is also an association between the file and the program, the file should be opened.
Step 1. Install HippoDraw
The first step is to check if the computer has the HippoDraw program installed. This can be achieved by typing HippoDraw into the operating system search engine. In the absence of an appropriate program, its installation in the vast majority of cases will fix the problem. Below you will find a list of applications that support HPO files.
Programs to open HPO file
Remember to download programs supporting HPO files only from verified and safe sources. We suggest using the websites of software developers.
Step 2. Create association of HippoDraw with HPO files
However, it may happen that the application itself does not cause the HPO file to open in the HippoDraw application, but you can set it manually. This option is available from the level of Properties of a specific file available in the context menu. The window will show, among other things, the type of the file and the information by which the program is used to launch the file. Using the "Change" button we can select the desired program. It may happen that in the next window there will be no appropriate program - however, this can be corrected with the "Browse" option where you should manually indicate the program location. The "always use the selected program ..." field will set the HippoDraw application as the default for handling the HPO file.
Step 3. Update HippoDraw to the latest version
The fault may also lie with the HippoDraw program, it is possible that HippoDraw Canvas Document requires a newer version of the program. Some applications allow you to update from the program level, and for others you need to download the installer from the Paul F. Kunz page and install.
Step 4. Check for the following problems with the HPO file
If the above steps do not help, you can assume that the file itself is not correct. The most common file problems are:
The affected file may be 0 KB or smaller than expected. This suggests truncating the HPO file contents when downloading or copying. The only repair option is to download the file again.
The operating system may be infected with a computer virus. A quick virus scan using an up-to-date antivirus program should clear up any doubts. If this is not possible, you can use the online scanner. The scan should cover the entire computer, not only the HPO file that we want to open. As a result of the scan, sometimes it is not possible to recover HPO files, which are deleted if there is a backup of this file, then after restoring it, it must also be scanned.
A typical compatibility error - the program does not support the older version of the HPO file. On their websites, developers usually offer free solutions to such problems, e.g. in the form of a conversion program or an older version of the program.
The file may be corrupted in a number of ways. Repairing is very dependent on the file type. Some programs offer the option of recovering data from damaged HPO files. The easiest way to restore the file is from a backup or by contacting Paul F. Kunz, but this one can be expensive. Not all damage can be reversed.
The program can also signal the fact of encryption. The encrypted HPO files cannot be played on other computers than the one on which they were encrypted, they must be decrypted before using on another device.
Some of the system directories are excluded from modification. While there is usually no problem reading such a file, it may not be possible to save it. It is best to move HPO to a different directory.
This problem usually affects more complex files. Some file types can only be opened in one program at a time. Running programs (including those in the background) should be verified. If the error persists after closing other programs, wait for a while. However, some background programs may block the HPO file while scanning. If this does not work either, restart the device.
