What is FI file?

The file in the FI format belongs to the Graphic Files category. Graphic Files consists of 524 similar files. Flash Image Image is supported by 1 operating systems. These systems consist of Windows, although it may occasionally be found on another system, it will be non-functional. The main program that supports this format is XnView. This was created by Pierre-Emmanuel Gougelet.

How to open FI file?

The main problem with Flash Image Image is that the FI file is incorrectly associated with programs. This causes the file FI to open by system applications not designed for this purpose, or to display a message that there is no associated program. This problem can be easily remedied.

The first thing you should do is just "doubleclick" on the FI file icon you want to open. If the operating system has an appropriate application to support it and there is also an association between the file and the program, the file should be opened.

Step 1. Install XnView

The first step is to check if the computer has the XnView program installed. This can be achieved by typing XnView into the operating system search engine. In the absence of an appropriate program, its installation in the vast majority of cases will fix the problem. Later in this article you will find a list of programs that can open FI files.

Remember to download programs supporting FI files only from verified and safe sources. We suggest using the websites of software developers.

Step 2. Create association of XnView with FI files

If, despite the installed application, the FI file does not start in the XnView application, you must create a file association. It is most convenient to call the context menu with the right mouse button and select Properties. The window will show, among other things, the type of the file and the information by which the program is used to launch the file. Changes can be made using the "Change" button. It may happen that in the next window there will be no appropriate program - however, this can be corrected with the "Browse" option where you should manually indicate the program location. The "always use the selected program ..." field will set the XnView application as the default for handling the FI file.

Step 3. Update XnView to the latest version

If, however, after binding XnView with Flash Image Image there were still problems, you should update the program to the latest version. This can be done using the application (if it provides such options) or from the Pierre-Emmanuel Gougelet website and install the latest version.

Step 4. Check for the following problems with the FI file

Of course, it may happen that despite the above steps, the file still does not work. The most common file problems are:

Very often, the file may be size 0 or incomplete. Usually this applies to FI files downloaded from the Internet in case the download did not finish properly. The file should be downloaded again, making sure that the process has finished correctly.
The operating system may be infected with a computer virus. A quick virus scan using an up-to-date antivirus program should clear up any doubts. Some antivirus vendors also provide free online scanners. For the best results, we will scan the entire operating system, not just our FI file. However, remember that not every infected FI file can be recovered, so it is important to take care of regular backups.
This can happen especially when the program is dynamically developed and the structure of the FI files changes over time. On their websites, developers usually offer free solutions to such problems, e.g. in the form of a conversion program or an older version of the program.
There can be many reasons for this. Depending on the type of file, it is necessary to repair it accordingly. Sometimes the program itself has options to repair the most popular FI file corruption. The easiest way to restore the file is from a backup or by contacting N/A, but this one can be expensive. Not all damage can be reversed.
The program indicates that the file is encrypted or corrupted. The encrypted FI files cannot be played on other computers than the one on which they were encrypted, they must be decrypted before using on another device.
Some operating systems do not allow file operations in certain locations, eg in system directories or directly on the system drive. The problem is only writing to the file, not reading it. Copying the FI file to another location will fix the problem.
This problem usually affects more complex files. You may find that another program you are using is preventing you from working with the file. Running programs (including those in the background) should be verified. Sometimes it is necessary to wait a while before referencing the FI file again. Antivirus programs or a backup being made may lock the file for a while without the user's knowledge. If nothing helps, please reset the device.
