How to open EFD file?
The most common problem when using Parallels Desktop Related is that a specific EFD is not associated with the program. This is manifested by the fact that EFD files open in unusual applications or do not have an assigned program. How to solve such a problem?
The first thing you should do is just "doubleclick" on the EFD file icon you want to open. If the operating system has an appropriate application to support it and there is also an association between the file and the program, the file should be opened.
Step 1. Install Parallels Desktop
An often overlooked issue is to make sure that Parallels Desktop is installed on the computer. This can be achieved by typing Parallels Desktop into the operating system search engine. In the absence of an appropriate program, its installation in the vast majority of cases will fix the problem. Below you will find a list of applications that support EFD files.
Programs to open EFD file
Remember to download programs supporting EFD files only from verified and safe sources. We suggest using the websites of software developers.
Step 2. Create association of Parallels Desktop with EFD files
If, despite the installed application, the EFD file does not start in the Parallels Desktop application, you must create a file association. The association can be created using the drop-down list available by right-clicking on the file and selecting Properties. Information about the file and the program that the file is associated with are available here. Using the "Change" button we can set the program to handle this type. It may happen that in the next window there will be no appropriate program - however, this can be corrected with the "Browse" option where you should manually indicate the program location. Checking the "Always use the selected program ..." box will permanently associate the EFD file with the Parallels Desktop program.
Step 3. Update Parallels Desktop to the latest version
If, however, after binding Parallels Desktop with Parallels Desktop Related there were still problems, you should update the program to the latest version.
Step 4. Check for the following problems with the EFD file
Of course, it may happen that despite the above steps, the file still does not work. File problems can be divided into the following:
Very often, the file may be size 0 or incomplete. Usually this applies to EFD files downloaded from the Internet in case the download did not finish properly. The file should be downloaded again, making sure that the process has finished correctly.
The computer may have fallen victim to a computer virus or hacker. A virus scan using an up-to-date antivirus program should fix the problem. If this is not possible, you can use the online scanner. For the best results, we will scan the entire operating system, not just our EFD file. However, remember that not every infected EFD file can be recovered, so it is important to take care of regular backups.
Older version of EFD file may not always be supported by the latest software version. On their websites, developers usually offer free solutions to such problems, e.g. in the form of a conversion program or an older version of the program.
There can be many reasons for the failure. Depending on the type of file, it is necessary to repair it accordingly. Some programs offer the option of recovering data from damaged EFD files.
The program indicates that the file is encrypted or corrupted. The encrypted EFD files can be used by the device on which they were encrypted, on any other device it is required to have the appropriate cryptographic key and decrypt the file before its recovery.
Some operating systems do not allow file operations in certain locations, eg in system directories or directly on the system drive. While there is usually no problem reading such a file, it may not be possible to save it. Copying the EFD file to another location will fix the problem.
This problem usually affects more complex files. In this case, the EFD file is blocked by the first application to open it. Just close unnecessary programs. Sometimes it is necessary to wait a while before referencing the EFD file again. Antivirus programs or a backup being made may lock the file for a while without the user's knowledge. If the problem persists, restart the machine.
