What is CFT file?

The file in the CFT format belongs to the Graphic Files category. Additionally, the Graphic Files category contains 524 of other files. CFast Graphics appears on 1 operating systems as a functional file. The file will work on Windows systems, unfortunately not on others. The XnView application is recommended to open the file. It was released by Pierre-Emmanuel Gougelet.

How to open CFT file?

The main problem with CFast Graphics is that the CFT file is incorrectly associated with programs. Thus, when you open CFT, the program selection wizard or some other program starts. How to solve such a problem?

The first thing you should do is just "doubleclick" on the CFT file icon you want to open. If the operating system has an appropriate application to support it and there is also an association between the file and the program, the file should be opened.

Step 1. Install XnView

The first step is to check if the computer has the XnView program installed. To do this, enter the name XnView into the system search engine. If it is not, installation may solve the problem, as most applications create file associations during installation. Below is a list of programs that support the file CFT.

Programs to open CFT file

Remember to download programs supporting CFT files only from verified and safe sources. We suggest using the websites of software developers.

Step 2. Create association of XnView with CFT files

However, it may happen that the application itself does not cause the CFT file to open in the XnView application, but you can set it manually. The association can be created using the drop-down list available by right-clicking on the file and selecting Properties. Information about the file and the program that the file is associated with are available here. Using the "Change" button we can set the program to handle this type. The program should be visible in the window, otherwise it should be selected manually using the "Browse" button and the program installation directory should be indicated. The "always use the selected program ..." field will set the XnView application as the default for handling the CFT file.

Step 3. Update XnView to the latest version

If, however, after binding XnView with CFast Graphics there were still problems, you should update the program to the latest version. Some applications allow you to update from the program level, and for others you need to download the installer from the Pierre-Emmanuel Gougelet page and install.

Step 4. Check for the following problems with the CFT file

Of course, it may happen that despite the above steps, the file still does not work. The most common file problems are:

Very often, the file may be size 0 or incomplete. Usually this applies to CFT files downloaded from the Internet in case the download did not finish properly. Downloading the file again should fix the problem.
The operating system may be infected with a computer virus. A quick virus scan using an up-to-date antivirus program should clear up any doubts. Alternatively, you can use the scanners available online. For the best results, we will scan the entire operating system, not just our CFT file. As a result of the scan, sometimes it is not possible to recover CFT files, which are deleted if there is a backup of this file, then after restoring it, it must also be scanned.
A typical compatibility error - the program does not support the older version of the CFT file. Help should be sought from the software developer, as they usually recommend using free file converters or installing an older version of the program.
There can be many reasons for the failure. Repairing is very dependent on the file type. Some programs offer the option of recovering data from damaged CFT files. The easiest way to restore the file is from a backup or by contacting N/A, but this one can be expensive. Not all damage can be reversed.
The program can also signal the fact of encryption. The encrypted CFT files can be used by the device on which they were encrypted, on any other device it is required to have the appropriate cryptographic key and decrypt the file before its recovery.
Some of the system directories are excluded from modification. While there is usually no problem reading such a file, it may not be possible to save it. If possible, you can try to move the CFT file to another location.
This problem usually affects more complex files. You may find that another program you are using is preventing you from working with the file. Running programs (including those in the background) should be verified. If the error persists after closing other programs, wait for a while. Antivirus programs or a backup being made may lock the file for a while without the user's knowledge. If the problem persists, restart the machine.
