The CBZ file is supported on 5 operating systems. Depending on your operating system, you may need different software to handle the CBZ files. Below is a summary of the number of programs that support and open the CBZ file on each system platform.
What is CBZ file?
The .CBZ file is an archive file. It is a ZIP archive. This is a special file format that serves as a comic book publication. The archive contains graphic files corresponding to the pages of the comic. Such a file can be read directly by comic book editing software, as can most e-book reading software. The pages in the file are ordered according to their reading order, but the order may be mixed up when extracting the contents. It is a sister format to .CBR.
How to open CBZ file?
The main problem with Comic Book Archive Format Or ComicBook Reader Format is that the CBZ file is incorrectly associated with programs. This is manifested by the fact that CBZ files open in unusual applications or do not have an assigned program. This problem can be easily remedied.
The first thing you should do is just "doubleclick" on the CBZ file icon you want to open. If the operating system has an appropriate application to support it and there is also an association between the file and the program, the file should be opened.
Step 1. Install Comical
The first step is to check if the computer has the Comical program installed. This can be achieved by typing Comical into the operating system search engine. In the absence of an appropriate program, its installation in the vast majority of cases will fix the problem. Later in this article you will find a list of programs that can open CBZ files.
Programs to open CBZ file
Remember to download programs supporting CBZ files only from verified and safe sources. We suggest using the websites of software developers.
Step 2. Create association of Comical with CBZ files
If, despite the installed application, the CBZ file does not start in the Comical application, you must create a file association. The association can be created using the drop-down list available by right-clicking on the file and selecting Properties. Information about the file and the program that the file is associated with are available here. Using the "Change" button we can select the desired program. If there is no software on the list, simply select "Browse" and manually select the directory where the application is installed. Checking the "Always use the selected program ..." box will permanently associate the CBZ file with the Comical program.
Step 3. Update Comical to the latest version
If, despite the association of the Comical program with the Comic Book Archive Format Or ComicBook Reader Format file, the file still does not open, check the program version and possibly update it to the newest version. Some applications allow you to update from the program level, and for others you need to download the installer from the LightStruk page and install.
Step 4. Check for the following problems with the CBZ file
The problem may also be with the file itself if the above steps don't work. File problems can be divided into the following:
Very often, the file may be size 0 or incomplete. Usually this applies to CBZ files downloaded from the Internet in case the download did not finish properly. Downloading the file again should fix the problem.
The operating system may be infected with a computer virus. A quick virus scan using an up-to-date antivirus program should clear up any doubts. Some antivirus vendors also provide free online scanners. However, it is important to scan the entire system, not only the file CBZ or the program directory. As a result of the scan, sometimes it is not possible to recover CBZ files, which are deleted if there is a backup of this file, then after restoring it, it must also be scanned.
A typical compatibility error - the program does not support the older version of the CBZ file. Help should be sought from the software developer, as they usually recommend using free file converters or installing an older version of the program.
There can be many reasons for the failure. The repair method must be adapted to the type of file and damage. Some programs offer the option of recovering data from damaged CBZ files. The easiest way to restore the file is from a backup or by contacting N/A, but this one can be expensive. Not all damage can be reversed.
When reading, a message appears that the file was encrypted or corrupted. The encrypted CBZ files can be used by the device on which they were encrypted, on any other device it is required to have the appropriate cryptographic key and decrypt the file before its recovery.
Some operating systems do not allow file operations in certain locations, eg in system directories or directly on the system drive. The problem is only writing to the file, not reading it. Copying the CBZ file to another location will fix the problem.
This problem only occurs with more complex files. You may find that another program you are using is preventing you from working with the file. Running programs (including those in the background) should be verified. Sometimes it is necessary to wait a while before referencing the CBZ file again. However, some background programs may block the CBZ file while scanning. If this does not work either, restart the device.
