What is 3DA file?

The 3DA file has been categorized as 3D Image Files. 3D Image Files consists of 622 similar files. 3D Assembly Format is most often found on 1 operating systems. Although it can be found with greater or lesser success on any operating system, it will only be useful on Windows. There are also 4 alternative programs to handle the 3DA file. ZModeler, SurfaceWorks, 3D Object Converter, ArtCAM Pro will apply when it is not possible to use ArtCAM.

How to open 3DA file?

An often recurring problem with 3D Assembly Format is that 3DA is not associated with the correct program file. This is manifested by the fact that 3DA files open in unusual applications or do not have an assigned program. How to solve such a problem?

The first thing you should do is just "doubleclick" on the 3DA file icon you want to open. If the operating system has an appropriate application to support it and there is also an association between the file and the program, the file should be opened.

Step 1. Install ArtCAM

The first step is to check if the computer has the ArtCAM program installed. The easiest method is to use the system search engine by entering the program name ArtCAM in it. If we do not have this program, it is worth installing it, as it will help you automatically associate the file 3DA with ArtCAM. Below you will find a list of applications that support 3DA files.

Step 2. Create association of ArtCAM with 3DA files

If, despite the installed application, the 3DA file does not start in the ArtCAM application, you must create a file association. The association can be created using the drop-down list available by right-clicking on the file and selecting Properties. The displayed window will contain information about the program that supports this type of file. Using the "Change" button we can select the desired program. It may happen that in the next window there will be no appropriate program - however, this can be corrected with the "Browse" option where you should manually indicate the program location. However, it is important to check the "Always use the selected program ..." box, this will allow you to permanently associate the 3DA file with the ArtCAM application.

Step 3. Update ArtCAM to the latest version

If, despite the association of the ArtCAM program with the 3D Assembly Format file, the file still does not open, check the program version and possibly update it to the newest version.

Step 4. Check for the following problems with the 3DA file

If the above steps do not help, you can assume that the file itself is not correct. The most common file problems are:

The affected file may be 0 KB or smaller than expected. This suggests truncating the 3DA file contents when downloading or copying. Downloading the file again should fix the problem.
The operating system may be infected with a computer virus. A quick virus scan using an up-to-date antivirus program should clear up any doubts. Some antivirus vendors also provide free online scanners. However, it is important to scan the entire system, not only the file 3DA or the program directory. Sometimes virus-infected 3DA files cannot be recovered, so make a backup in advance.
Older version of 3DA file may not always be supported by the latest software version. On their websites, developers usually offer free solutions to such problems, e.g. in the form of a conversion program or an older version of the program.
There can be many reasons for the failure. Depending on the type of file, it is necessary to repair it accordingly. Some programs offer the option of recovering data from damaged 3DA files.
The program indicates that the file is encrypted or corrupted. The encrypted file 3DA except for the special designation, works normally, but only on the device where it was encrypted, before transferring it to another machine, decryption is required.
Some of the system directories are excluded from modification. While there is usually no problem reading such a file, it may not be possible to save it. It is best to move 3DA to a different directory.
This problem only occurs with more complex files. In this case, the 3DA file is blocked by the first application to open it. Just close unnecessary programs. Sometimes you have to wait for the session to the file 3DA to close. Some anti-virus or backup software may occupy the 3DA file for a certain period of time. If nothing helps, please reset the device.
